Castlemaine.

A home among the gum trees, with lots of plum trees.

The planting palette for this project needs to tolerate the icy winters, scorching summers and compacted clay soils of Castlemaine. Although the site soil will be ameliorated and topsoil imported, we still try to use hardy, resilient species.

This project has been broken into zones and consists of a formal productive area, sweeping mass planted shrubbery, native meadow, native lawn and revegetated dam. It is also very important to the client that we retain an open area where the resident kangaroos and wallabies can access the dam for drinking water.

This project will be completed progressively over the next 10 years or so, but we cannot wait to see it come to life.
