Our Team

STEM Landscape Architecture & Design was created for those who are looking for designs that are respectful towards the environment and our non-human ‘others’.

We possess a strong commitment to design sustainable gardens that are not only beautiful but function with the purpose to sustain wildlife and better this beautiful earth.

We want to connect people back to the environment, to allow children and adults to explore and understand nature and to better our urban surroundings in ways that they can allow for biodiversity of animals and ecosystems.

Emmaline Bowman

The director & founder of STEM.
Emmaline has a Bachelor of Design & a Masters in Landscape Architecture.

Em believes that every answer can be delivered when you look into nature, & she strives in creating environments that respect Australian flora & fauna in ways that are not only beneficial but beautiful.

Emmaline loves all animals (even the creepy ones), getting out into nature, traveling, drawing, aquariums, and spending time on her family farm.

Chillie Vary

Chillie holds an undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture from RMIT and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Urban Planning.

Initially focusing on interior design during her studies, Chillie's passion lies in blending the natural beauty and wildness of external spaces with environmentally conscious design practices to shape creative outcomes.

A significant influence on her aesthetic comes from her time living and working in New York City, where she was inspired by the dynamic seasonal changes in the environment, prompting her to seek a localized adaptation of this expressive style.

Tom Hogan

With a degree in Urban Horticulture from Melbourne University’s Burnley campus, Tom is a landscape designer and horticulturist with STEM.

Toms passion for the outdoors come from growing up on a small farm where free time was spent exploring the creek and bushland. Before moving into design Tom spent time working in garden maintainance which give a great appreciation of what it take to make gardens work.

With a Bachelor of Applied Sciences, Stein manages all of the accounts at STEM and is one to jump in the water when assisting in water plant outs.

Stein is from Norway.

Growing up, Stein spent most of his time at his family’s summer island cabin within a beautiful fiord. He spent most of his time in the water, so it’s hard to keep him out.

Stein loves free diving, going on long bush walks, fishing, hiking, exercising, and learning about all the wonderful things this Earth has to offer.

Luna Vary

Luna has come from NYC to greener pastures here in melbourne. Luna helps advise plant selections suitable to her canine friends and helps support the staff with her calm and playful nature.
